It was such an amazing experience getting the chance to host a dinner theatre for Free the Children at Boston Pizza on Hunt Club and Merivale. We in total had 8 acts that came out to perform and boy were they ever wonderful! I learned a lot about how stressful event planing can be, however also how enjoyable it is. I’ll introduce you all to some of the performers now.

What a greta opening number!

What a great opening number!

First off we started with Kaitlyn singing and accompanying herself to the song Let It Go. Kaitlyn is one of my voice students and she has come along so far in the past little while. She was the perfect opening act.

Izzy was so happy to perform, and we were so happy to have her.

Next we had Izzy who got to sing The First Time In Forever to stay in the Frozen theme. Followed by Alicia who was able to sing Luke Bryant’s Crash My Party. It was such an amazing thing to see as Alicia sing. I used to dance with Alicia but had never had the chance to see her sing. I was so happy to see her get the chance.

Love this picture of Alicia and I after she performed... I think I'm looking for food here ;)

We also heard from Alex who sang What a Wonderful World. Alex was also our amazing photographer, which is why there are no pictures of him. Check him out here.

this years Provincial Kiwanis competition, performed next. She did a beautiful job singing Lamest Place in the World and One Perfect Moment. We also had Discords, a local band perform Charlie Brown to finish off the night. And what a night it was.

Near the end of the night a little girl cam up to me asking me for a picture. Her parents mentioned to me that it was her birthday. So right after the Discords performed I brought her up on stage to have everyone sing her Happy Birthday. She was

thrilled! Hope you had a great birthday Bailey!

We also had a 50/50 draw. The winner won half of the money plus two tickets to Orpheus’s new show Tommy (generously donate by Orpheus Theatre Company). The winner needed being my father, who decided to decline the win. Sarah was our lucky winner, she actually works for Free the Children. How about that?

In the end, the night was a success as we raised over $300 for Free the Children and everyone had a great time performing and watching our performers. I want to give a shout out to all of the performers, their parents, our wonderful accompanist Steve Boudreau, Boston Pizza and of course all our our audience members. What a night!

Cheers,

Samantha
