Wow! Hello everyone,
My name is Samantha and I am the new Miss Teenage Ottawa! I am typing this snowed into my house in Ottawa. What a blizzard! My heart goes out to all of those who got stuck this morning! (I had to help my mom push her car out this morning). Born and raised in Ottawa, I have experienced quite a few of these blizzard days. Snow days as a kid were the best! I would always spend snow days tobogganing down the hill in my front yard with my younger brother. One year my dad and I had to snowshoe out of our street to make a show at the Canadian Tire Centre (back then it was still the Scotiabank place).
How many of you have pulled doughnuts in parking lots after blizzards like this? It is so easy to slip and slide. My dad would always take my family out and pull doughnuts in the park parking lot near our house. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if that was our plan tonight.
Alright, now enough about the snow and little bit about me. As I mentioned I was born and raised in Ottawa. I am currently studying at Carleton University. I have a passion for languages. Currently I speak fluent English and French, I have a basis in Spanish and American Sign Language and I have German and Italian diction training. In addition, I am an opera singer and musical theatre performer.
I have performed in over 14 opera’s and 8 musicals. I currently work as a princess entertainer at Little Princess Party Fun, in addition to teaching voice, piano and dance at Centrepointe Music Academy and Artistic Preschool and finally working the occasional shift at Roots in Bayshore Shopping Centre.
I like to stay active with my charity work as well. In the past, I have aided with organizations such as the Girl Guides of Canada, the Arthritis Society and CHEO. Currently, I am helping fundraise for Free the Children and Global Brigades. I am planning a medical brigade to Honduras at the end of August with Global Brigades and Carleton University. I will be hosting many fundraisers in the future, including door prizes, give aways and contests so keep your eyes and ears open for those!
For those of you who have been avid supporters of previous Miss Teenage Ottawa’s, I hope that I can make you proud as the new 2016 Miss Teenage Ottawa. I look forward to reading your comments, opinions and idea’s. Like and share my page on Facebook, and follow me on Twitter and Instagram!
Cheers and stay warm!
